Wiredelta & SingularityU Denmark – Seizing Exponential Opportunities

With the many challenges that humanity is facing (like space exploration, disaster resilience, etc.), there is a need to find suitable solutions. Luckily, there is Singularity University. It is a global community using exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges. Peter Diamandis (the founder and chairman of the X Prize Foundation), Ray Kurzweil (an American author, computer scientist, inventor and futurist) and Robert D. Richards (co-founder and CEO of Moon Express, Inc.) founded it in 2008. The mission of the organization is to educate and inspire individuals and companies to solve these problems through exponential technologies. While being active in over 80 countries, it became the perfect hub for connecting people working on solving the world’s grand challenges.

Today, we see these exponential technologies most vividly in fields like artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital biology. Therefore, these are the main focus of courses or workshops at Singularity University. When completing courses, most often you are mind-blown and with a network others could only dream about.

The Problem

In Spring 2017 Singularity University opened their new office in Copenhagen.

“Denmark is a recognized global leader in many areas of technology, including green tech, biotech, pharmaceutical sciences, telecommunications, IT and design. We all know the successes born in Denmark: LEGO, Universal Robots and Skype – to name just a few,”

– said Rob Nail, the Global Head of Singularity University

The new SingularityU Denmark needed a solid online presence that has to showcase the overall idea of the organization. Also, it was planned to organize the SingularityU Denmark Summit in Autumn 2017 in Copenhagen, hence the information about it should have been added to the website as well.

The Solution

Starting with strict design templates and guidelines, Wiredelta® implemented a rock-solid website for SingularityU Denmark. It was decided to go with WordPress to build the website, as it is one of the most popular and easy-to-maintain CMS. You can also check out our blog posts on why WordPress is so popular. You can also check whether it is the best solution for your website.

With the minimalistic and modern design and friendly UX, people can easily get all the information about SingularityU Denmark. Users can even book tickets for the next SingularityU Denmark Summit.

Conclusion

While being a part of the community, Wiredelta is proud to create and manage the website for SingularityU Denmark. First of all, it is a project that we enjoy working on. However, we also see it as a contribution to all the ideas that the organization is sharing and spreading worldwide. Same as the founders of Singularity University, we truly believe that the world has the people, technology, and resources to solve any problem, even humanity’s most urgent, persistent challenges. Let’s make the world an exponential place!

I personally would suggest to put some effort for font, use only sans-serif and no italic, get rid of parallax effect of the globe and flat earth image. Also changing the image to something retina would be great. a background hover effect on buttons instead of text colour change-only and more stick-to-the-grid elements, especially with the effect of chess board in a fifth container. Maybe some design manual would do the job? Facebook iframe makes no sense, maybe like button would be enough? Same with twitter. In overall, website lacks a bit of user testing and there is just too much stuff in the website. For a Pros part, it is informative, but try to take of the logo and then give it to the users to decide what is this website about? In 2010 it would be a great website, but we are approaching 2018 soon. IT need’s to represent singularityU values, which is modern and futuristic, i suppose from the name and approach of the event.

Nevertheless, I hope you guys are getting good. Following you up. Keep a good pace! 🙂

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
